Straight answer

What is environmental remediation in demolition?

Environmental remediation is the removal or stabilization of hazardous materials, such as asbestos, lead paint, mold, contaminated soil and underground storage tanks, so a site is safe to demolish, renovate or rebuild. It usually comes before demolition, and doing both with one contractor keeps the schedule simple.

Environmental questions

Why does asbestos have to come out before demolition?

Demolishing a building disturbs everything in it. Regulated materials such as asbestos generally have to be identified and removed first so they are not released during demolition.

What does EPA Lead-Safe mean?

It means QC Services is certified under the EPA's Lead-Safe program (the Renovation, Repair and Painting rule) for firms that disturb lead-based paint in homes and child-occupied facilities built before 1978.

Do I need a survey before you start?

Most projects start with a survey of hazardous materials. If you already have one, send it with your bid request. If not, tell us and we'll discuss it on the walkthrough.

Can you remove an underground storage tank?

Yes. UST removal is one of our environmental services.

Can the same crew do the demolition afterward?

Yes. Environmental work and demolition are both done in-house, so one contractor can handle the whole sequence.
